Vanessa-Mae is a British violinist and alpine skier. She competed under the name Vanessa Vanakorn (Thai: วาเนสซ่า วรรณกร) in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. The minor planet 10313 Vanessa-Mae is named after her. She is also known as Vanessa Vanakorn.
Vanessa-Mae was born in Singapore, to a Thai father, Vorapong Vanakorn, and a Singaporean mother, Pamela Soei Luang. She moved to England when she was four, after she was adopted by her British stepfather. She is also known as Vanessa-Mae Vanakorn Nicholson.
