Virginia Grey was an American actress and singer. She appeared in over 100 films, from the 1920s to the 1970s, and on radio and television shows.
She was the daughter of Florence Anna and film director, actor, and screenwriter Ray Grey (Raymond Standish Grey). She was raised LDS (Mormon).
Virginia’s paternal grandfather was named James W. Grey. James was Scottish.
Virginia’s paternal grandmother was Fanny Maud Stenhouse (the daughter of Thomas Brown Holmes Stenhouse and Fanny Warn). Virginia’s grandmother Fanny was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. Thomas was a Scottish emigrant, from Dalkeith, Midlothian, and was the son of George Stenhouse and Elizabeth Brown Armstrong. Virginia’s great-grandmother Fanny was born on Saint Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands, the daughter of parents from Hampshire, England, John Warn and Elizabeth Ann Hill.
Virginia’s maternal grandfather was Matthias/Mathew/Mathias John Pauli/Pauly (the son of Peter Anton Pauli and Catharine Nettikoven). Matthias was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to German parents. Catharine was the daughter of Heinrich Nettekoven, from Prussia, and of Christina Dreesen, from Duisdorf, Nordrhein-Westfalen.
