Wayne Messam is an American football player, businessperson, and politician. A member of the Democratic Party, he has been Mayor of Miramar, Florida, since April 1, 2015. He was previously a Member of the Miramar City Commission, from April 1, 2011 to April 1, 2015. A wide receiver, he played for Florida State in college, and was with the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League (NFL). He is 6′4″.
He was a candidate for the Democratic Party’s nomination for President of the United States in 2020 .
His parents, Delsey Virginia and Hubert Messam, were Jamaican. His father cut sugarcane. Wayne is married to Angela, with whom he has three children.
