Wes Anderson is an American film director, film producer, screenwriter, and actor. He has directed the films Bottle Rocket , Rushmore , The Royal Tenenbaums , The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou , The Darjeeling Limited , Fantastic Mr. Fox , Moonrise Kingdom , The Grand Budapest Hotel , Isle of Dogs , The French Dispatch of the Liberty, Kansas Evening Sun ; Asteroid City , The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Three More , and The Phoenician Scheme . He co-wrote his first seven films, and has solo written all of his subsequent films.
Wes is the son of Texas Ann (Burroughs) and Melver Leonard J. Anderson. He has two brothers, Mel and Eric Chase Anderson, who is a writer and artist. Wes has a daughter with his partner, Lebanese writer, costume designer, and actress Juman Malouf.
Wes’s paternal grandfather was Melver Leonard Anderson (the son of Ernest Melver Leonard Anderson and Esther Johanna Jacobson). Wes’s grandfather Melver was born in Illinois. Ernest was born in Illinois, the son of Swedish parents, Charles W. Anderson and Emana C. Esther also born in Illinois, also to Swedish parents, Nels Gustaf Jacobson and Johanna Gustava Svenson.
Wes’s paternal grandmother was Mildred Nelson (the daughter of Abram/Abraham Edvard/Edward Nelson and Inga Christina Olson). Mildred was born in Illinois, to Norwegian parents.
Wes’s maternal grandfather was Edgar Wales Burroughs (the son of John Wales Burroughs and Augusta Ann Stricklin). Wes’s grandfather Edgar was born in Illinois. John was the son of George T. Burroughs and Margaret McEntire. Augusta was the daughter of Jonathan Garner Stricklin and Elizabeth Johnson.
Wes’s maternal grandmother was Texas Pringle Bates (the daughter of Albert Franklin Bates and Texas Cope Pringle). Wes’s grandmother Texas was born in Alabama. Albert was the son of Aaron H. Bates and Frances C. Wes’s great-grandmother Texas was the daughter of William Green Pringle and Virginia Phoebe Johnston.
