Her parents, Yetti Marsanti and Rahmat Saleh Herman, were natives of the province West Sumatra, Indonesia, which is dominated by ethnic Minangkabau. Her father died when she was one. She moved to Jakarta in 2007. Whulandary is married to Malaysian businessperson Nik Ibrahim Nik Mohamed Din, with whom she has two children.
