Yasuo Fukuda is a Japanese politician. He served as Prime Minister of Japan , from 26 September, 2007 to 24 September, 2008. He was also Director-General of the Okinawa Development Agency, from 27 October, 2000 to 5 December, 2000, Chief Cabinet Secretary, from 27 October 2000 to 7 May, 2004, and President of the Liberal Democratic Party, from 23 September, 2007 to 22 September, 2008; as well as, a Member of the House of Representatives for Gunma 3rd, and then Gunma 4th, cumulatively, from 1990 to 2012.
He is the son of Mie (Arai) and Takeo Fukuda, who served as the 42nd Prime Minister of Japan, from 24 December, 1976 to 7 December, 1978. He is married to Kiyoko Mine, with whom he has a son, politician Tatsuo Fukuda, who has been a Member of the House of Representatives, since 16 December, 2012.
Yasuo’s paternal grandfather was named Yoshiharu Fukuda.
Yasuo’s maternal grandfather was named Fumio Arai (the son of Arai Yoshisato).
