Youri Djorkaeff is a French professional footballer. An attacking midfielder and forward, he played for Grenoble, Strasbourg, Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, Kaiserslautern, Bolton Wanderers, Blackburn Rovers, and New York Red Bulls, and the France national team. He won the 1998 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2000, with France.

Youri is the son of Maria Ohanian and professional footballer and manager Jean Djorkaeff, who played as a defender. His father was born in Charvieu, France, of Kalmyk and Polish descent. His mother is Armenian. The Kalmyk people are an ethnic group related to Mongols, who live primarily in the Republic of Kalmykia, a federal subject of Russia in the Caucasus.

Youri is married to Sophie, with whom he has three children, including professional footballer Oan Djorkaeff.

Youri’s maternal grandfather was named Garo Ohanian. Youri named his son Ohan in his honour.
