Yu Darvish (ダルビッシュ 有) is a Japanese professional baseball player. A pitcher, he plays for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was previously with the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters of the Pacific League, the Texas Rangers, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Chicago Cubs. He is 6’5″.
His father, Farsad Darvishsefat, is Iranian. His mother, Ikuyo, is Japanese. His parents met while studying in Florida, U.S. The couple settled in Osaka, Japan, where Yu was born. His father was also a sportsman, excelling in soccer and motocross.
Yu is married to Japanese wrestler and submission grappler Seiko Yamamoto. He has two children, including model Ren Dokyu, with his former wife, Japanese actress, model, and television personality Saeko (born Saeko Dokyu); and five children, including baseball player Shoei Darvish, with Seiko.
