Yves Montand was an Italian-born French actor and singer.
He was the son of Giuseppina (Simoni) and Giovanni Livi. They moved to France in 1923. Yves’s mother was a devout Catholic, while his father was raised Catholic and came to hold Communist beliefs. Yves was married to actress Simone Signoret , until her death, and then to Carole Amiel, until his death. Yves and Carole had a son.
Yves has often been described as being of Jewish origin, likely because of his original surname, Livi. However, these claims are not correct.
