Zico is a Brazilian professional footballer, and coach. An attacking midfielder, he played for Flamengo, Udinese, and Kashima Antlers, and the Brazil national team. He is technical adviser for Kashima Antlers, for whom he has also been manager and technical director. He also managed CFZ, Japan, Fenerbahçe, Bunyodkor, CSKA Moscow, Olympiacos, Iraq, Al-Gharafa, and FC Goa. He is considered one of the greatest players of all time. He is nicknamed “White Pelé.”
Zico is the son of Matilde Ferreira da Costa e Silva and José Antunes Coimbra, a Portuguese emigrant, from Covelo, Tonda, Tondela, Viseu. His brother is professional footballer and manager Edu Coimbra. He is married to Sandra Carvalho de Sá, with whom he has three children.
Zico’s paternal grandfather was Fernando Antunes Coimbra (the son of João Antunes Bicho and Mariana Antunes Coimbra). Fernando was born in Botulho, Viseu, Portugal. João was born in Botulho, the son of José Antunes Bicho and Josefa Fernandes Bicho. Zico’s great-grandmother Mariana was born in Botulho, the daughter of Manuel de Coimbra and Cipriana Marques.
Zico’s paternal grandmother was Elisa/Elisia da Anunciação Silva (the daughter of João Crisóstomo and Maria Rosa). Elisia was born in Tonda, Tondela, Viseu, Portugal.
